What makes the Greenest Roofer “Green”? Or, how you can get accolades from your boss, earn LEED EB points and save the planet at the same time, by doing something you have to do anyway?

  1. Roofing and Sealant Projects save energy

And always have - studies have shown that wet roof insulation can cost more than $1 a square foot per year in extra energy costs, and similar savings can be realized by sealing leaky windows and walls.  A new, Energy Star rated roof, or vegetated, ‘green’ roof system, the addition of insulation, and other steps can provide huge savings on energy costs

  2. It is Possible to Recycle and Reuse many of the materials that formerly went to landfills

    3. WeatherSure is proud to pioneer some recycling efforts that may become common in our industry- eventually. EPDM Rubber roof membranes, for example, are currently targeted to be recycled 
    in test programs in conjunction with industry organizations.  It will also be possible to recycle asphalt based roof membranes, and it may even be feasible to use the recycled asphalt on-site in paving operations, earning more valuable LEED EB (existing buildings) points.  WeatherSure continues the practice of vacuuming roofing aggregates for re-use, as well as recycling all metals that can’t be re-used, and always re-using, rather than replacing, undamaged roof insulation, saving both money and space in the landfill.

Like any large commercial operation, WeatherSure has lots of opportunities to show how Green we are in everyday life.  With about a hundred employees, two office/warehouse locations, dozens of trucks, and all the computers, telecommunications, and energy consumption of any modern office, there’s lots of places to upgrade to a more sustainable workplace environment.  Some will take longer to implement, but include:  recycling office waste, water saving plumbing fixtures, yes, energy star rated roofs, Alternative/flex fuel vehicles, photovoltaic solar electric systems, recycled office furnishings
